Mundaring Truffle Festival 2008
Call for Sponsors
Expressions of Interest’ are invited from businesses and other interested parties, who would like to participate in the Mundaring Truffle Festival as a ‘sponsor’. The Festival was the brainchild of renowned chef and owner of The Loose Box Restaurant in Mundaring, Alain Fabregues, and is the first truffle festival in Australia.
Only 45 minutes from Perth, picturesque Mundaring in the Perth Hills is an ideal place to see, smell and learn about fresh truffle now being grown in Western Australia. Over the weekend, you can try the fabled black fungus in many different dishes. There's the famous $5 egg and truffle taster by the Loose Box, risotto and other dishes at the Wine & Truffle Co Cafe, special degustation-style truffle dinners and a Slow Food down the road luncheon.
For the food lover and professional chef, there are Master Classes by two of Australia’s best-known chefs Alain Fabregues and Shannon Bennett of Vue de Monde in Melbourne. Whilst the Festival celebrates the truffle, it also showcases the superb gourmet produce and wines of the Perth Hills and other regions of Western Australia.
The Festival, now in its second year, presents a major opportunity for businesses looking for exposure to thousands of local residents and visitors to Mundaring and the Perth hills. It is also an important opportunity for businesses to be involved with high quality, cultural events that generate substantial community spirit and pride.
It is a community event alive with music, food and free entertainment as you wander through the ‘Festival Village’ which features a Gourmet Produce Market, the Perth Hills Wine Show, truffle-themed food outlets, truffle dog demonstrations, fungi-related art and craft demonstrations, a guided forest fungi walk, bicycle treasure hunt and special children’s activities.
The visitor demographic at our festival include many from the food industry: chefs from the many fine hotels in WA, restaurateurs, catering suppliers, apprentice chefs, lovers of fine foods, ‘foodies’, journalists, and the uninitiated and curious. All will be well rewarded for their efforts!
Food artist, Bridget Waters is creating an art piece from 20 kilos of mushrooms and there are fungi-dyed textiles and hands-on craft sessions for kids and food-related experiences.
Entry to the Festival is free. Bookable events with a cost include, the truffle Master Classes on Friday and Saturday, pizza-making sessions with world pizza winner Theo Kalogeracos , olive oil tastings with Arnaud Courtin, the Slow Food Convivium ‘down the road’ luncheon and Gala Truffle Dinners at The Loose Box and Darlington Estate Winery.
